It was aged for 12 years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks before being bottled in 2009. The whisky is non-chill filtered, and has an ABV of 46%. On the nose, Springbank 1997 offers aromas of honey, dried fruit, and malt. On the palate, it has flavors of sweet oak, dark chocolate, and a hint of smoke. The finish is long and complex, with notes of leather and spice.
