MacPhail's 1938 GM
MacPhail's 1938 General Motors (GM) was a revolutionary car that was the first mass-produced car to feature an all-steel body. It was designed by Harley Earl, an automotive designer who was hired by GM in 1927. The car featured many innovations, including a streamlined body and a low, wide stance. It also had a modern suspension system, an independent front suspension, and a rear-mounted engine. It was powered by a straight-eight engine and had a top speed of 90 mph. The car was considered to be a luxury vehicle and was priced accordingly. It was the first car to feature a fully enclosed passenger compartment, and it was the first car to feature power brakes. The car was an immediate success, and it helped to establish GM as a leader in the automotive industry.
