Lakeland 2004
Lakeland 2004 was a major disaster relief exercise held in Lakeland, Florida. The exercise was held in response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Charley, which had struck the area in August of 2004. The exercise was designed to test the capabilities of local, state, and federal agencies to respond to a large-scale disaster. The exercise involved the participation of over 2,000 personnel from over 20 agencies, including the National Guard, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the American Red Cross. The exercise included a variety of scenarios designed to test the capabilities of the participating agencies. The exercise was successful in demonstrating the ability of the agencies to respond to a large-scale disaster.
