Hanyu 1988
Hanyu (半虞) was a Chinese state during the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history (722–481 BCE). It was located in the modern-day province of Shandong and was one of the major powers of the period. The state was founded by the descendants of the ruling house of the Shang dynasty, who had been forced to flee eastward after the fall of the dynasty. The ruling family of Hanyu was known as the Ji (姬) clan. The state of Hanyu reached its peak in the late 8th century BCE, under the rule of King Wu Ding. During this time, Hanyu was one of the most powerful states in the region, and it was able to expand its influence over much of northern China. Hanyu was eventually conquered by the state of Chu in the mid-6th century BCE, and it was eventually absorbed into the Chu state. After the fall of the state of Chu, Hanyu was annexed by the state of Qin, which later became the Qin dynasty.
